Biography
Dr. Alexander S. Kolker is an oceanographer and climate scientist with global experience, much of it related to climate change in the coastal zone. He is an Associate Professor at the Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium where his research interests include climate change, sea level rise, river-ocean dynamics, air pollution, and the global energy transition. He also runs the Coastal Climates Institute, a consultancy focused on finding practical solutions to address climate change. Dr. Kolker served as a Fulbright Scholar and a Fulbright Specialist in Morocco, where he worked with collaborators to study the climate change, sea level rise, and coastal sustainability in North Africa.
This year, he served as a fellow with The North Atlantic Treaty Organization's Climate Change And Security Center Of Excellence (NATO-CCASCOE), where he examined climate impacts to coastal regions of the Arctic and High North and their implications for global security. He has been appeared in outlets that include the New York Times, the Washington Post, the New Yorker, National Public Radio, and The New Orleans Times-Picayune/Advocate. Alexander S.
