Biography
Bill Abler, Vice President of System Planning and Operations (SPO), is responsible for planning and operating the system to optimize customer value for today’s needs and for future growth while balancing affordability, reliability, and sustainability. SPO has several core functions to support these objectives including Advanced Network Planning, Advanced Economic Planning, Commercial and Operations Support, Fuel Supply Operations, Energy Management Organization (EMO), Local Balancing Authority Services (LBA), and Support Services for settlements, MDMA and compliance.
Since joining Entergy in 2003, Abler has built a track record of cultivating strong relationships and delivering commercial outcomes while serving in executive leadership positions in Investor Relations, Commercial Development and Innovation, and Commercial Operations in Wholesale Commodities. Prior to working at Entergy, he held notable commercial and leadership roles with Exxon, UBS Warburg, Enron and Apache Corporation.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
