Biography

Chris Richardson is a partner in the Energy & Infrastructure practice at Paul Hastings, based in the firm’s Houston office.  Chris’ legal practice focuses on complex corporate transactions and projects across the energy and infrastructure industries globally, including project development and finance, strategic joint ventures, equity and debt investments, M&A, and commercial agreements in the LNG, oil & gas, chemicals, power, renewable energy, and energy transition sectors.  He has over 20 years of experience in the industry, both as a senior executive and in private practice while based in Texas, North Carolina, Hong Kong and Abu Dhabi.  Immediately prior to joining Paul Hastings, Chris was the CEO of 8 Rivers, an energy technology company developing industrial scale low carbon power generation, hydrogen production, carbon capture and gas processing technologies and projects.  He also previously served as the General Counsel of Mubadala Petroleum in the United Arab Emirates, worked in-house with Occidental Petroleum, and led the Energy & Infrastructure practice for the Americas for another global law firm.  A native of Louisiana, Chris graduated from Tulane University with a B.A. in History in 1999 and the University of Virginia School of law in 2004.  He serves on the President's Council at Tulane University, as well as on the advisory boards of the Tulane Energy Law & Policy Center and the Celia Weatherhead School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.
