David LaCerte

David A. LaCerte was confirmed by the U.S. Senate in 2025 to serve as a Commissioner of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. He brings over two decades of experience in public service, law, and regulatory policy. Prior to his appointment to FERC, he held senior roles in both state and federal government, including leadership positions at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, the U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board, and as a state Cabinet Secretary in Louisiana.

At FERC, Commissioner LaCerte focuses on grid reliability, energy affordability, and infrastructure modernization. He supports policies that promote domestic energy development while upholding the Commission’s independent and evidence-based decision-making framework.

He holds a J.D. from the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center and a B.A. from Nicholls State University.
