Dr. Margaret Reams

Margaret Reams is the Joseph D. Martinez Professor of Environmental Sciences at LSU and served as the Associate Director of LSU's Institute for Energy Innovation.  She also led the community engagement program of LSU's Superfund Research Center for several years.  She is an expert in collaborative community planning theory and methods, and her teaching and research examine the influence of sociotechnical systems on emerging energy transition technologies.   She has conducted quantitative assessments of community well-being, as well as focus groups and community surveys examining policy preferences and risk perceptions concerning technologies for carbon management.

She received the LSU Foundation Distinguished Faculty Teaching Award for excellence in graduate-level teaching and mentoring, having supervised over ninety MS theses on various issues of environmental policy and public attitudes.  Dr. Reams received her undergraduate degree from Huntingdon College, and MA and PhD degrees in political science from the University of Georgia.
