Biography
Dr. Greg Upton is the Executive Director and Associate Research Professor at the LSU Center for Energy Studies, specializing in energy and environmental economics. He has authored over 40 publications and presented to more than 200 academic, industry, and government audiences, including testimony before both state and federal legislative bodies. His work has been featured in major media outlets such as the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and NPR. Dr. Upton has taught courses across economics, environmental sciences, and business at LSU. He currently serves as President-Elect of the United States Association for Energy Economics and is a member of the National Petroleum Council. He also serves on two Louisiana legislative task forces focused on hydrogen and carbon capture. In 2024, he was named to the Baton Rouge Business Report’s Forty Under 40. Dr. Upton earned his Ph.D., M.A., and B.S. in Economics from LSU.
