Biography
Eric Skrmetta was elected to the Louisiana Public Service Commission in 2008 and he holds one of 5 seats on the statewide independent constitutional body that creates policy while governing utility providers and other public services in the Pelican State. Eric is serving his third term on the Commission.
The Commissioner is a lifelong resident of Louisiana. In addition to his bachelor’s and Juris Doctorate, Commissioner Skrmetta earned an LL.M Masters in Maritime and Admiralty law from Tulane. Eric has attended the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government.
Commissioner Skrmetta serves in numerous capacities on both the Southeast Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (SEARUC and the Board of Directors of the National Association of Regulatory Commissioners (NARUC) where he also serves on the Washington Action Committee, as well as the Electricity, Gas and Nuclear committees. Commissioner Skrmetta also serves on the NARUC national Gas Infrastructure task force. Commissioner Skrmetta serves on the board of directors of the Organization of MISO States where he is currently the Vice Chairman of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee, and has previously created and served on the Entergy Regional States Committee in all capacities. Commissioner Skrmetta launched the State of Louisiana’s movement forward into new nuclear technology and finance with the creation of the “Louisiana Advanced Competitive Edge” (LANCE) which recently released its initial report which will continue to hold policy meetings with national participants. Its goal being to accelerate Louisiana into the inclusion of more nuclear generation. Eric is proud to represent all, or a portion, of 10 Louisiana Parishes.
