Biography
Jay Hakes left the tenured world of academia to work for three American presidents on energy issues. He has served as Assistant to the Secretary of Interior, Administrator of the U.S. Energy Information Administration, director of the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library, and director of research and policy for the Presidential Commission on the BP oil spill. The 2024 Tulane Energy Forum featured his book, The Presidents and the Planet, which the Association of American Booksellers later named as the year's top book on environmental science.
