Biography

A River Region native, Julia Fisher-Cormier serves as Executive Director of the Port of South Louisiana, leading strategic and operational direction for the second-largest tonnage port in the Western Hemisphere. Additionally, Julia is appointed by Governor Jeff Landry as Chair of the Louisiana Ports and Waterways Investment Commission where she is overseeing the development of the state’s first-ever statewide strategic investment plan for Louisiana’s 32 ports. Her extensive public leadership includes serving as Deputy Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, where she led the newly created Office of Transformation, overseeing initiatives to cut red tape, modernize operations, and improve fiscal efficiency within one of the state’s largest agencies. She also played a key role in strengthening interagency coordination across state government. As Commissioner of the Office of Multimodal Commerce, she managed over $120 million in port and aviation infrastructure funding. Previously, as Chief Commercial Officer for the Port of South Louisiana, she helped attract over $1 billion in foreign direct investment and reversed a decade-long decline in cargo tonnage. With an additional 12 years of public service as a St. Charles Parish Councilwoman, Julia brings deep expertise in public-private partnerships, multimodal freight, and regional economic development.
