Matthew Escarra

Matthew Escarra is a professor of electrical engineering at Tulane University, where he also serves as faculty director of Tulane Instrumentation for Nanoscience & Innovation (TINI), including the Tulane Micro/Nanofabrication Facility. He completed his Ph.D. in electrical engineering at Princeton University and his postdoctoral training at the California Institute of Technology. He also has worked with several companies, small and large, including Daylight Solutions, Otherlab, Dow Chemical, Boeing-Spectrolab, and Enfra. He is a recipient of the National Science Foundation CAREER award and is a Senior Member of IEEE, Optica, and the National Academy of Inventors. At Tulane, his research team investigates applied systems for solar cogeneration of steam and electricity while also exploring fundamental nanotechnologies, including dynamic optical metasurfaces and photovoltaics from two-dimensional semiconductors.
