Megan M. Biven
Founder, True Transition
Biography
Megan M. Biven is the founder of True Transition which connects research and analysis to the challenges of the energy transition. She has written federal legislation, the Abandoned Well Act to create a new executive level agency to directly employ oil and gas workers with the mission of identifying, tagging, plugging and abandoning, and monitoring the millions of oil and gas wells that plague American lands and waters. She is also working to give the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers its public dredge fleet back.
She graduated with a Masters in Public Policy from the University of Chicago's Harris School of Public Policy and began her federal career as a Presidential Management Fellow for the then Marine Minerals Service, and now Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, the week of the Deepwater Horizon disaster. She currently resides in Vienna, Austria although she knows what it means to miss New Orleans (and to answer the inevitable question, she graduated from St. Mary's Dominican High School).
