Biography
Taryn Brown serves as the Chief Legal Officer at Delta Utilities, a new natural gas utility headquartered in New Orleans. With a distinguished legal career spanning major global firms and dynamic industries, Taryn brings a wealth of expertise and leadership to the energy sector. Before joining Delta Utilities, Taryn practiced at Baker McKenzie’s New York office—the world’s largest law firm—where she specialized in complex cross-border mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, corporate restructuring, and asset management transactions. She provided strategic counsel on some of the most high-profile transactions globally.
Taryn’s diverse experience includes serving as Vice President at Legends, a premier sports and entertainment company affiliated with the New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys. Before that, she was a corporate associate at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld in New York City, where she specialized in private equity mergers and acquisitions, securities law, and complex carve-out transactions. Akin Gump is consistently recognized among the world’s leading law firms.
Outside of her legal career, Taryn sharpened her leadership skills as a Division I basketball coach in New York City and as a fundraiser for political campaigns and nonprofits dedicated to expanding educational opportunities for underrepresented communities.
Taryn is an alumna of the University of Texas, where she served as captain of the women’s basketball team. Taryn pursued her legal education at Tulane University Law School as part of the first class after Hurricane Katrina, motivated by a desire to contribute to the city’s recovery. During her time at Tulane, she distinguished herself as Editor-in-Chief of the esteemed sports publication, The Sports Lawyers Journal.
