Biography
Mr. von Otnott is the CEO of HotRok Energy, a New Orleans-based geothermal energy development company. Troy has worked in renewable energy and sustainability consulting for the last 17-years and was instrumental in launching the solar energy industry in Louisiana in 2008. He was part of a team that passed ground-breaking clean energy tax credit legislation, creating the nation’s most extensive statewide renewable energy tax credit. In 2008, he founded and was president of South Coast Solar in New Orleans, which became the largest and most successful solar energy company in the Southeast in its first two-years of operation. Throughout the last decade, Troy has worked as a solar developer and a cleantech startup mentor, competition judge, Southeast Regional Director and Ambassador At-large for Cleantech Open, the world’s largest and oldest clean technology startup accelerator organization. Troy currently serves as an advisory board member to the Georgia Cleantech Innovation Hub and The Ray, a notable sustainable transportation nonprofit in Atlanta, GA. Troy studied business at Cumberland University while serving in the U.S. Army from 1984-1987, working as a Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Specialist and has an MBA in Sustainability from the San Francisco Institute of Architecture.
